Capitol Reef and Cassidy Arch

Went to Capitol Reef National Park for some pretty epic canyoneering. The campsite was nice and mellow and right next to this old homestead. The house and barn and a nice little orchard have been well kept for these last hundred years or so.





Next to the house there was this old Ford with a big flatbed










We hiked up to the top of the plateau then around to Cassidy Arch, which is the hole in the distance in this one




Here is the arch from closer up, it spans this little box canyon






We repelled 160 feet or so next to the arch right into the canyon, this one is taken from the center of the arch



After going down into the main arch we repelled 7 more times down into the increasingly narrow slot canyon.
Several of the repels went down through other arches. Here is my friend's bishop coming down thru an arch
