These pictures are awesome. We looked at them last night right when you put them up, while we were skyping with grampster and Jake McKean. We were all really impressed. I think Jake like the 'exploding' one best :) Too cool!
holy cow! these are awesome! you are pretty good sam, pretty dang good! I can believe how clear the sun rays are... and I love the thorn wraped in wire
Thanks for the comments!! We had fun. That is actually a vine wrapped around the thorns, weeds attacking weeds pretty much. The 'exploding tree' was fun, I found a tree that was completely bowed over with snow, grabbed a branch with one hand and pulled it back as far as I could, then got the camera ready with the other, let go and started shooting, as the tree bounced all over catapulting snow like crazy. I love the macro too, first time I've used that one (I actually slipped and shattered the UV filter for it, but luckily everything else was OK and I had another UV that fit). It was awesome, tons of fresh, deep snow...and more on the way supposedly.
Oh yeah, and too get the sun rays, just put your f-stop all he way up (mine goes up to f-22), as the aperture gets tiny its like squinting your eyes, and if you get the sun to just barely peek from around a tree or branch it seems to help with that too.
whoa sam! you're macro shots are amazing. thanks for sharing your family photo blog. i want to be a sherwood!
